To keep plants happy, treat them as humans.
To keep humans happy, teach them to observe nature.
— Cath Lim | nature-based therapist & horticulturist

I’m Cath. I hold this space for people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and gently make sense of what’s within.

I didn’t set out to do this work.

For many years, my life moved quickly— driven by deadlines, expectations, and the need to keep going. It was only when I began working with plants that something started to shift.

The Turning Point

In caring for plants, I noticed something unexpected - that I began to notice something in myself slowing down. They responded not just to what I did, but to how I showed up— to patience, attention, and time.

And slowly, I began to see how different that was from the way many of us live - Always moving. Always solving. Always trying to get somewhere.

The Plant Story (Past → Present)

The Plant Story began as a shared journey— built with a team, many hands, and a fast-moving pace.

We created spaces and experiences that brought people closer to nature. Along the way, we built something from the ground up— garden retail, cafe and workshop. We made many friends and received accolades we never expected. But over time, something in me began to change.

What started outwardly began to turn inward. I found myself drawn less to creating activity, and more to creating space.

The Shift

On our 10th year in 2019, I made the decision to slow everything down.

I stepped away from the structure I had built, and began training in nature and forest therapy. Later, I continued my studies in counselling.

Not to change what I was doing— but to understand more deeply what I had already begun to notice: That when people slow down, something in them naturally begins to shift.

How I Work Now

Today, The Plant Story is no longer about creating activities. It is about creating space.

A space where nature becomes a mirror, and where, at your own pace, you may begin to see yourself a little more clearly - with yourself, with your loved ones, or with the people you work with.

My work is quieter. More human. More personal.

Sometimes, nothing much needs to be said. Sometimes, something becomes clearer.

There is no pressure to arrive at answers. Only an invitation to begin.
